Were you raised around medieval reenactment?

My parents were Prince and Princess of Drachenwald when i was like, 1. My parents are now Viscounty (cookie to those who know what Viscounty are... and how to pronounce it. HAhaha.). This also means that i get sucked in to politics. You work for the kingdom, and expect nothing in return, because it's simply expected of you.

There are pros and cons to being raised in the SCA. The upside, you are good in arts and science, chivalry is not dead, you can fight, and you are very well educated in History and most things that that entails. You are accustomed to classy medieval food. It's one of those societies where the men often sew better than the women.

The downside? You become a history nazi: You wince when people pronounce Seneschal wrong. You feel sick when you hear that people love the movie "First Knight". You want to spit on people that wear renfair, nonperiod garb to court. I can go on.

When you're born in the SCA, it's not just a hobby. It is your lifestyle.

Me, the politics got too nasty. I had to get out. Mind you, the SCA politics don't get much nastier than the shit my family was stuck in.

I'm thinking about getting back in, and playing in a different barony.
